Digit was launched yesterday and it was a grand success! To our pleasant surprise hash rates, web page visitors and BCT thread views & posts skyrocketed before our eyes! On our web site, the downloads page scored over 600 visits and the page overall got thousands of views.
To the great joy of our supporters and the frustration of our naysayers, Digit is already listed on three exchanges and can currently be mined from seven pools and we haven’t even been live for 24 hours yet! During the active discussion on the forums, several topics were brought up that we will address in this news issue.
Due to all original (scrypt) Digit supporters being compensated in a ratio of 1:1 there might be slight imbalances on coin supply at first, but due to heavy mining this will inevitably fix itself in only a matter of days. This was a calculated decision by the development team and very fair to all Digit supporters as we wouldn’t be here without the community’s help.
Secondly, many users have asked about the total amount of DIG. As said before, there is a specific number in the source code but it’s irrelevant as it is most likely not reached even in 10+ years and will probably be adjusted after the mining period ends (1 year). For more information about the mining & staking multipliers, please visit the FAQ & the In-Depth pages.
The Digit development team is incredibly thankful for all the support we have received and promises to keep working hard. We have a good thing going here, and our long-term prospects are looking great so we encourage everyone to jump on the Digit train!
